Can a 2MW biogas hot water boiler use 417 Nm³/h biogas with 56.1% methane?
A 2MW biogas hot water boiler is a suitable heating option for many biogas plants, wastewater treatment plants, anaerobic digestion facilities, food waste treatment projects, and agricultural energy projects. In this inquiry, the boiler is planned for a biogas plant in Australia, using about 417 Nm³/h of biogas with 56.1% CH4. This is useful information for preliminary selection of a 2MW biogas hot water boiler.
Based on the methane content, the lower heating value of the biogas can be roughly estimated. Methane has a lower heating value of about 35.8 MJ/Nm³. With 56.1% CH4, the biogas fuel value is about 20.1 MJ/Nm³. At 417 Nm³/h, the fuel input is about 8,380 MJ/h, or around 2.33 MW. If the boiler output target is about 2MW, the heat balance appears technically reasonable, subject to confirmation of gas pressure, gas stability, moisture, H2S content, siloxanes, and site conditions. For a 2MW biogas hot water boiler, the gas pretreatment system can strongly affect burner life and boiler operation.
For this application, ZOZEN Boiler can review a pressurised hot water boiler solution. The WNS series gas-fired hot water boiler can be configured for natural gas, biogas, and other clean gaseous fuels when matched with a suitable burner. A 2MW biogas hot water boiler generally needs automatic ignition, flame detection, pressure protection, temperature control, water flow protection, gas leakage detection interface, and burner safety control. For Australia, the local code, inspection requirement, and emission target should be checked before final design.
Biogas is different from pipeline natural gas. A 2MW biogas hot water boiler should be designed after reviewing methane content fluctuation, CO2 ratio, H2S level, water vapor, dust, gas pressure, and daily operating profile. If H2S or siloxanes are high, pretreatment is recommended before the gas enters the burner. Stable gas pressure is also important, because burner load adjustment depends on gas supply conditions.
For a complete quotation, the customer may provide required hot water outlet and return temperatures, design pressure, circulation flow, biogas composition report, gas pressure range, expected operating hours, installation location, power supply, and preferred supply scope. A 2MW biogas hot water boiler package may include boiler body, burner, control cabinet, pumps, valves, instruments, economizer, chimney interface, and technical drawings.
ZOZEN Boiler has experience with gas-fired boilers and exported boiler systems. If your project requires a 2MW biogas hot water boiler for Australia or another market, please send the technical data to info@zozen.com. The team can review the biogas parameters and discuss a boiler configuration for the project.

In industries such as chemicals, plastic packaging, new materials, and building materials, thermal energy supply is closely related not only to production continuity, but also to product quality and operating costs. As companies place higher requirements on process temperature control, fuel adaptability, and system stability, thermal oil boilers are becoming an important heat source in many industrial applications. Based on different fuel conditions and production needs, ZOZEN Boiler continues t...02 Jun 2026 -
Packaging connects production with consumption. A carton, a piece of corrugated board, or a roll of plastic film may look light and simple, but behind each of them is a stable, continuous, and process-matched thermal energy system. As demand continues to grow in food packaging, industrial packaging, e-commerce packaging, and plastic packaging, the packaging industry is placing more specific requirements on boiler equipment: stable steam supply, fuel adaptability, process temperature control, ope...26 May 2026 -
When an industrial boiler arrives on site, what first catches a customer’s attention is often not the specification sheet, but the overall appearance of the equipment in the plant environment. For boiler equipment, exterior design is not only about visual presentation; it also reflects the manufacturer’s approach to product details, on-site management, and brand image. ZOZEN Boiler has upgraded the exterior of its SZL series biomass boiler, presenting a more unified visual design and...19 May 2026
