The reason for the excess sodium ion in the superheated steam of waste heat boiler

31 Mar 2023

The reason for the excess sodium ion in the superheated steam of waste heat boiler is due to the leakage of the evaporating tube. When the boiler is in operation, the high-temperature flue gas passes through the evaporating tube to heat the feed water, and the sodium ions in the feed water are deposited on the surface of the evaporating tube. If there is a leakage in the evaporating tube, the flue gas will enter the feed water system through the leakage, which will increase the sodium ion content in the feed water and cause the sodium ion content in the superheated steam to exceed the standard.

It appears that one possible cause of the over-limit sodium ion in the superheated steam of the waste heat boiler could be due to the leakage of the thermal oil. This leakage can cause the oil to mix with the feed water and eventually enter the steam system, resulting in high levels of sodium ions in the superheated steam. This can be a serious issue as high levels of sodium ions can cause corrosion and damage to the turbine blades and other equipment downstream.

To address this issue, it is recommended to properly maintain the waste heat boiler and ensure that there are no leaks in the system. Regular monitoring of the feed water and steam quality can also help identify any potential issues early on. Additionally, it may be necessary to install a water treatment system to remove impurities and prevent corrosion.
