How many kinds of dust removers are there?

15 Oct 2021

At present, there are many types of dust removers for coal-fired boilers.

1. Mechanical dust remover is a device that separates dust particles from airflow by using mass forces (such as gravity, inertial force and centrifugal force). Such as gravity dust remover, inertial dust remover and cyclone dust remover. Mechanical dust remover is characterized by simple structure, low cost and convenient maintenance, but its dust removal efficiency is low.

2. Filter dust remover is a device that makes dust-containing air flow pass through filter materials to separate and collect dust. Such as granular layer dust remover and bag filter. The filter dust remover has the advantages of high dust removal efficiency (even at low dust concentration), simple operation and reliable operation, but it is not suitable for treating wet gas and sticky dust due to its high resistance and high energy consumption.

3. Wet dust remover is used to collect dust particles by contacting the dusty airflow with water or other liquids. Such as venturi dust collector and cyclone water film dust collector. The scrubber has high efficiency, simple structure and low cost, and has the function of absorbing harmful gases, but it will produce sewage and sludge, which need to be treated.

4. Electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is a device which uses corona discharge of strong electric field to ionize gas and charge dust particles and separates dust particles from airflow under the action of coulomb force. The characteristics of electrostatic precipitator are high dust removal efficiency, high temperature gas treatment, low resistance and low operation cost, but high steel consumption, high cost and high technical requirements.

  • Building a Plywood Plant in Africa: How to Choose the Right Heat Source?
For many manufacturers with mature production experience in China, expanding capacity overseas or building a new factory abroad often starts with one key question: can the local infrastructure and energy supply support long-term operation? This is especially important in Africa. In many countries, raw materials such as timber are readily available, while conventional fuels like natural gas and diesel are often more expensive and less stable in supply. For plywood plants, this creates a practica...
