Does the molten salt heater belong to boiler?

10 Feb 2023

Is the molten salt heater a boiler? ZOZEN Boiler, a professional molten salt heater manufacturer, will answer this question. Boiler refers to the closed equipment that uses various fuels, electricity or other energy sources to heat the contained liquid to a certain parameter and bear a certain pressure, and its scope is defined as a pressurized steam boiler with a volume greater than or equal to 30L; Pressurized hot water boiler with outlet water pressure greater than or equal to 0.1MPa (gauge pressure) and rated power greater than or equal to 0.1MW; Molten salt heater takes ternary or binary inorganic molten salt as heat transfer medium, coal, fuel oil or gas as fuel for heating, and uses molten salt circulation pump to force liquid phase circulation, and then sends heat energy to heat equipment and then returns to a special industrial boiler for reheating, which belongs to an organic heat carrier boiler.

As the heat energy supply equipment in manufacturing industry, boilers have a wide range of applications. Molten salt heater is important in solid alkali evaporation and concentration, aluminum hydroxide dissolution, solar photothermal power generation and other industries.

Is the molten salt heater a boiler?

Molten salt heater is a special industrial boiler which uses ternary or binary inorganic molten salt (mixture of potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite) as heat transfer medium, uses coal, fuel oil or gas as fuel to heat, and uses molten salt circulation pump to force liquid phase circulation, and then sends heat energy to thermal equipment and then returns to reheating.

Molten salt heater can be divided into coal-fired type, oil-fired type, gas-fired type, biomass-fired type and electric heating type according to different fuel heating methods. According to different structural forms, it can be divided into cylindrical, square box and tubular molten salt heaters.

Principle and system of molten salt heater

After determining whether the molten salt heater is a boiler, let's go on to understand the system of the molten salt heater. The whole boiler system of molten salt heater is mainly composed of salt circulation system, combustion system and heating system.

The principle of the molten salt heater is that the melting tank heats the powdery solid molten salt above the melting point until the viscosity of the molten salt can be pushed by the submerged molten salt circulating pump, so that the whole system becomes a circulating state, and then it is sent to the heater body for further circulating heat exchange with high-temperature flue gas to raise the temperature to the working temperature required by the process thermal equipment, so that it can be used for circulating heat supply in the flowing state.

ZOZEN molten salt heater

Molten salt heater is an important category of ZOZEN boiler. The molten salt heater produced by ZOZEN include RYY(Q) series fuel gas molten salt heaters and RYL coal-fired biomass molten salt heaters, with heating capacity of 300-36000KW, wide supply range and reliable quality.

1, low pressure and high temperature, strong safety, and higher service temperature can be obtained under the same pressure compared with heat transfer oil;

2, the heating temperature is stable, and the load and temperature can be adjusted accurately;

3, The thermal efficiency of the system is high, generally higher than 92%;

4, Complete operation control and safety monitoring equipment, effectively reducing operation and maintenance costs;

5, automatic control: mechanization, automatic control, proportional adjustment, PLC programmable or DCS man-machine dialogue integrated control technology;

Because of the different heating load and circulating flow rate, molten salt heaters are mostly in the form of two-layer or three-layer circular tubes, with the inner coil as radiation heating surface, the middle coil and the outer coil as convection heating surface, and the three-layer coils run in parallel, which is simple in structure and convenient to use.
