What are precautions of banking-up operation of coal-fired steam boiler?

07 Aug 2020

When regulating and controlling the coal-fired steam boiler, it will involve the banking-up operation which has a set of operating steps and points for attention. Strictly adhering to the operating steps will be helpful for the more efficient operation of coal-fired steam boiler and can extend its service life at the same time.

First of all, we should properly reduce the load of coal-fired steam boiler by gradually thickening the coal layer according to the planned time of blowing out the furnace. Please notice that the thickness of coal layer can not exceed 200 mm. Meanwhile, we should properly accelerate the grate speed to push the banking-up process.

When the coal layer of steam boiler is thickened to about 1 mm from the slag stopper, we can shut down the grate, forced draft fan, induced draft fan and adjust the regulator damper and flue damper which can control the air supply to the appropriate position.

At this time, the steam boiler relies on natural ventilation to maintain coal's weak combustion, which is used for sewage discharge, so the boiler's water level will rise to a high but allowable level. If the fire burns out the coal gate, we can restart the grate and move the coal back for a certain distance.

After a period of shutdown, if the steam boiler needs to resume operation, we just need to start the forced draft fan, induced draft fan and adjust the opening of regulator damper and flue damper. When the boiler burning turns normal, we can adjust the coal layer and start the grate to resume the operation of boiler.

These are the banking-up operating steps, points for attention and operating steps to resume boiler's operation.
