What are the fuels of new energy boiler?

Common fuels for new-energy/clean-energy boilers

  • Natural gas/LPG/LNG: Widely available, low SOx/PM, supports ultra‑low NOx with correct burner/controls. Often the fastest route to coal replacement.
  • Electricity: Electric resistance or electrode boilers deliver zero on‑site emissions and near‑instant start/stop. Overall carbon intensity depends on the grid or on-site renewables.
  • Biomass: Wood chips/pellets, agricultural residues. Renewable and often cost‑effective where supply chains exist; requires ash handling and fuel prep/logistics.
  • Biogas/landfill gas/sewage gas: Renewable gaseous fuels from AD and waste streams; composition variability requires suitable gas treatment and burner design.
  • Alcohol-based clean fuels (e.g., methanol, ethanol, DME): Low-sulfur, cleaner combustion; attractive where these fuels are abundant or incentivized.
  • Hydrogen or H2‑blends: Zero-carbon at point of use; requires compatible burners/controls and attention to flame speed and NOx mitigation.
  • Waste heat/heat recovery: Using high‑temperature process exhaust (kilns, furnaces, incinerators, glass/steel/chemicals) to generate steam or hot water without extra fuel.
  • Thermal oil systems with clean fuels: Use gas, electricity, or biomass to heat thermal fluid for precise process temperatures where steam isn’t ideal.
  • Geo/solar-assisted systems: Typically supplement rather than replace boilers, reducing the boiler’s duty when integrated with heat pumps or solar thermal.

How to choose

  • Fuel availability and price stability
  • Emissions limits (NOx, CO2, VOC, PM) and permitting
  • Steam/hot-water load profile, pressure/temperature, turndown needs
  • Space, electrical capacity, and utility interconnections
  • O&M capabilities (ash handling for biomass, gas treatment for biogas, water treatment)
  • Lifecycle cost and decarbonization roadmap (e.g., future switch to H2 or biogas)

ZOZEN Boiler recommendations by fuel/application

  • Natural gas/LPG/LNG
    • WNS series gas/oil-fired condensing steam and hot-water boilers (horizontal, packaged). High efficiency, compact footprint, low NOx burners.
    • SZS series gas/oil-fired water-tube boilers for higher capacities/pressures and fast load response.

  • ZOZEN Boiler in Mongolia: Industrial Heat Projects Across Food, Beverage and District Heating Sectors
Mongolia's industrial sector has been expanding steadily. Demand for reliable heat supply is growing — particularly in food and beverage manufacturing and urban district heating. Coal is the dominant industrial fuel. The continental climate means heating systems run for long periods each year. At the same time, factories are raising their standards for steam quality, equipment uptime, and emissions compliance. These factors together make boiler selection a more demanding process than it us...

  • Building a Plywood Plant in Africa: How to Choose the Right Heat Source?
For many manufacturers with mature production experience in China, expanding capacity overseas or building a new factory abroad often starts with one key question: can the local infrastructure and energy supply support long-term operation? This is especially important in Africa. In many countries, raw materials such as timber are readily available, while conventional fuels like natural gas and diesel are often more expensive and less stable in supply. For plywood plants, this creates a practica...
