China New GB/T National Standard for Shell Boiler

This year, the National Standard of Shell Boiler (GB/T 16508.5-2022) (hereinafter refered as the Standard) drafted partly by ZOZEN Boiler was approved for publication, and it has been implemented on October 1, 2022.

The Standard GB/T 16508-2022 is one of the general boiler construction standards revised and centralized by the National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standardization Technical Committee. This standard consists of eight parts, and this is the second revision, aiming at standardizing the design, manufacture, acceptance, installation and operation of boilers and preventing major safety risks. ZOZEN was listed as the main drafting unit, and participated in the drafting of Part 4, Manufacturing, Inspection and Acceptance, Part 5, Safety Accessories and Instruments, and Part 7, Installation of shell boilers. Chen Libo of the Design and Research Department was listed as the main drafter.

Shell boiler refers to the boiler whose evaporation heating surface is mainly arranged in the shell, the burning flame or flue gas is inside the tube and the working medium flows outside the tube. The main furnace types are ZOZEN WNS series oil/gas fire tube boiler and DZL series coal/biomass water-fired tube boiler. Due to the limitation of tubesheet structure, our country's shell boilers always stop at 20 tons or less. Large tonnage shell boilers that exceed the limit are prone to tubesheet tearing accidents, and have great potential safety hazards.
