Some kinds of boilers have the problem of energy waste caused by heat loss in the process of steam transmission due to their special structures. To solve this problem, we should properly improve the steam transmission process.
There are many opinions on the best way to clean a steam boiler. One of the oldest ways is to dissolve a pound of tri-sodium phosphate (TSP) and a pound of caustic soda (lye) in water and pour it into the boiler. Let it cook for a few hours and then drain the boiler. If you can't buy TSP in your town, try a commercial soap called MEX. It works well and will not damage the rubber gaskets found in some boilers. However, before you clean any boiler, check the manufacturer's instructions for their recommendations.
The coal-fired boiler refers to the boiler uses various types of coal as fuel and converts the heat of coal to steam or hot water.
There are generally two calculation methods of the circulating water volume of a coal-fired hot water boiler. One is to calculate the hourly water volume of one square meter and the other is to calculate the design parameter volume of every ton. As for the make-up water volume of this type of boiler, it is usually calculated as 1% to 3% of its total circulating water.
The economizer is a heat exchanger equipment which utilizes heat recovery of flue gases to heat feedwater. It can increase boiler efficiency, reduce the temperature of flue gas and save the fuel by absorbing recovery of flue gases. Besides, the feedwater is heated through the economizer before it is supplied into steam drum to decrease the thermal stress of the steam drum wall caused by temperature difference, which can improve the operating conditions of steam drum and prolong the service life of the steam drum.
Fuel-to-steam efficiency is a measure of the overall efficiency of the boiler. It accounts for the effectiveness of the heat exchanger as well as the radiation and convection losses. It is an indication of the true boiler efficiency and should be the efficiency used in economic evaluations. As prescribed by the ASME Power Test Code, PTC 4.1, the fuel-to-steam efficiency of a boiler can be determined by two methods: the InputOutput Method and the Heat Loss Method.
There are so many options to weigh when looking for high efficiency boilers: hot water or steam, wetback or dryback, type of fuel, and more. However, there are a few key considerations to make when evaluating a new boiler for efficiency that will help you no matter what your other considerations may be. Look for a fan that can deliver a stable air supply, a burner and boiler unit that can produce low emissions, a design that maximizes flue gas velocity, smart pressure vessel design, and an efficient heating power to boiler surface ratio are just a few considerations to keep in mind. These simple but powerful design elements are hallmarks of solid construction and will add up to significant performance enhancements. The choice between a steam system or a thermal fluid system is governed by the process requirements. The range or process temperature is a deciding factor. If the system’s required temperature is above the freezing point of water (0°C) and below approximately 160°C, the choice is usually steam. However, if the required temperature is above 160°C, thermal fluid may be a better solution. Thermal oil heater systems can be designed with maximum operating temperatures to 325°C.
The primary objective of an industrial boiler is the generation of steam. Steam is generated by heat transfer at a constant pressure. The fluid, which is initially in a liquid state, is heated, produces a variation in its phase and becomes saturated vapour.
This saturated steam can then be used for different applications such as sterilization, fluid heating or electricity generation.
