What are thermal oils used for in industrial boilers?

In addition to water, other fluids can transport heat in industrial boilers, and thermal fluids usually replace water when higher temperatures are needed.
There are in fact various types of thermal oil: mineral and synthetic oils. Mineral oil is obtained from petroleum.
Thermal oils are used as a heat transfer liquid to prevent corrosion in installations, and to enable work to be carried out at lower pressures and higher temperatures.
