Influencing factors of slagging on heating surface of boiler
(1) Ash characteristics of pulverized coal
Generally, the softening temperature ST of ash is used as the main indicator of slag formation. Coal with low ash melting point (ST<1200℃) is easy to slag. In addition, the slagging index also includes: silicon ratio, alkali-acid ratio, slagging index, limit viscosity and so on.
（2）Aerodynamic characteristics in the furnace
Improper air flow organization leads to flame center deviation, and the pulverized coal air flow flame adheres to the wall, causing local slagging of the water-cooled wall;
Improper air flow organization, forming flue gas retention vortex area and forming a reducing atmosphere (with CO), reducing the ash melting point and increasing the possibility of slagging.
Excess air coefficient: When the excess air in the furnace is too small, a reducing atmosphere may be generated, and the tendency of slagging will increase accordingly.

The fuel of a gas-fired boiler is gas such as natural gas, city gas, biogas and liquefied gas, etc. What kind of fuel the boiler burns is decided by an equipment called a burner. The boiler equipped with a gas-fired burner is called a gas-fired boiler. There are three methods of gas-fired boiler combustion as per technical characteristics of how the gas and air mix.
1. Diffusion combustion:
Gas and air mutually diffuse at the gas nozzle and are burning. The advantages are burning stably and with simple burner structure. However, the heated area is easy to be carbonized due to long flame, which is easy to produce incomplete combustion.
2. Premixed combustion:
A part of air and gas are premixed before combustion (coefficient of primary air surplus is between 0.2-0.8), and then being burned. The advantages are clear combustion flame, enhanced combustion, and high thermal efficiency.

Coal in boulder size is burnt combustion may not be complete. There will be more unburnt coal. As per coal chemistry and as per boiler flue gas velocity as designed best coal size for full combustion is designed. Maximum crushed coal is also not the best. Then there will be more coal dust. According to general design in various technologies pulverized coal give best combustion for fbc boilers. For cfbc boilers generally crushed coal size is 6 mm.
When you achieve best combustion mean this is main contributor for increase in efficiency. Boiler design, heat transfer, flue gas velocity, heat losses, are other factors for efficiency.
In the work of transforming a coal-fired boiler into a gas-fired boiler, the principle of changing the original boiler should be reduced without changing the pressure component of the boiler body. The transformation process should focus on the choice of gas burners, the determination of the number of burners, the layout of the burners, the matching design of the furnace layout, and the selection of explosion-proof measures. Step by step, both economic benefits and practicality should be considered.
Maintenance of the burner: thoroughly clean the rotor plate, ignition device, filter, oil pump, motor and impeller system, and add lubricant to the connecting rod device of air valve. Retest the combustion condition.
The gas consumption of 10 tph gas-fired boiler is related to technical parameters.
Such as heating surface layout, heat preservation effect, heat loss, water capacity, etc. The calculation formula of gas consumption of 10 tph gas-fired boiler is as follows:
=10 tph gas-fired boiler output÷ thermal efficiency ÷calorific value of natural gas
= 6,000,000 kcal ÷ 0.98 ÷ 8,600 kcal / h = 712 m3
Therefore, the gas consumption of 10 tph gas-fired boiler is 712 m3/ h
The gas consumption of the above gas-fired boiler is calculated at full capacity. In practice, the gas consumption changes with the operation load and operation conditions.
