What are the correct ignition procedures for industrial coal-fired boilers?

23 Jul 2021

The ignition of industrial coal-fired boiler needs to be operated steps by steps, and the ignition operation is different according to the specific model of industrial coal-fired boiler. Grates of industrial coal-fired boilers are usually divided into manual grates and mechanical grates. Here, according to the different grates, the correct ignition steps of industrial coal-fired boilers are introduced in detail.

Ignition steps of manual grate industrial coal-fired boiler:

The materials required for ignition include combustible materials (for ignition), firewood (for transition) and coal.

  1. First of all, combustible materials and firewood are stacked on the grate and laid flat in front of the grate to ignite combustible materials and firewood.
  2. Then wait for the firewood to burn and throw a small amount of coal on the fire by manual or mechanical means (first use small particles of coal).
  3. After the coal burns, gradually move the fire around the grate, and then spread the coal over the entire grate. The entire ignition process is finished.

Ignition steps of mechanical grate industrial coal-fired boiler:

The ignition area of the grate is located between the rear arch of the arched bucket and the coal gate. Combustibles, firewood and coal are laid in layers in the ignition area, with coal at the bottom and combustible and firewood at the top.

  1. Ensure that the negative pressure in the hearth of the coal-fired boiler is between 15pa and 30pa, turn on the induced draft fan of the boiler, and start ignition.
  2. Ignite the upper fuel, wait for the upper fuel to burn stably, and then slowly rotate the grate to advance about 0.8 meters.
  3. Wait for the bottom coal to burn. When the coal is burning, open the east grate and start the boiler blower to increase the coal transportation. According to the combustion condition of coal, open the baffles of each part of air chamber.

For many manufacturers with mature production experience in China, expanding capacity overseas or building a new factory abroad often starts with one key question: can the local infrastructure and energy supply support long-term operation? This is especially important in Africa. In many countries, raw materials such as timber are readily available, while conventional fuels like natural gas and diesel are often more expensive and less stable in supply. For plywood plants, this creates a practica...
