Why the furnace body of oil-fired boiler needs galvanizing processing?

24 Jul 2020

In order to further improve the working performance of oil-fired boiler, many customers require galvanizing processing of furnace body. However, is it really effective?

Among all the parts of oil-fired boiler, furnace body endures high-temperature heating and is the intermediate to transfer heat and produce necessary heat medium. It is obviously that furnace body's working condition is bad but its quality directly decides the service life of the whole boiler, so the maintenance of furnace body is very important.

In addition to careful material selection, we should choose materials with good corrosion resistance, strength of extension and heat conductivity coefficient to produce the furnace body of oil-fired boiler. Galvanizing processing is also an effective way to protect the furnace body because zinc is a kind of active metal which is easy to be oxidized. However, zinc oxide is a dense surface that can prevent the internal zinc from being further oxidized. That is to say, although the surface of galvanized steel plate is damaged, the irony layer will not be damaged because zinc is more active than iron, which helps to extend the service life of oil-fired boiler and promote the function.

What's more, galvanizing processing of oil-fired boiler's furnace body can also prevent the boiler from producing yellow water to avoid affecting the water quality. The boiler equipment will accept hydrostatic test after being produced, so there is a part of water remaining inside the furnace to make the inner wall of furnace oxidized.

However, if the water quality is not so good, the furnace wall and tube wall of oil-fired boiler will be covered by a layer of incrustation which covers the rusty part of steel plate, so there will be no yellow water. Therefore, galvanizing processing of oil-fired boiler's furnace body can not only extend the service life of oil-fired boil but also improve the output water quality.
