How to start a hot water boiler?

10 Sep 2021

1、A hot water boiler should be thoroughly inspected at first, including the accessory pipeline. Close the drain valve and open the gauge cock to discharge the air in the boiler.

2、Slowly pour the treated water into the hot water boiler while the inlet water temperature is generally not higher than 40℃. Keep a close eye on the water level as the pressure increases and turn off the feed water when the level of water inside the gauge glass is stable.

3、Open the boiler gate and ignite the firewood or other combustible materials (iron nails are strictly prohibited) which are laid flat in front of the grate. Turn up the flue gas valve to enhance natural ventilation until the materials burn, then intermittently turn on the induced draft fan and manually add the coal after the sufficient combustion. Observe the combustion situation and properly poke the fire. Until the coal can combust continuously, adjust the induced air draft to ensure the negative pressure in the hearth is between 0.1-0.2 MPa and gradually realize the normal combustion.

4、The ignition temperature should slowly increase to avoid excessive thermal stress due to uneven heating of each part. The first ignition to heat the cold furnace to the working pressure is better in 3-4 hours. Except for the urgent requirement of gas, the cold furnace ignition time should be over 2 hours, and the hot furnace should be over 1 hour.

5、Keep a close eye on the water level as the pressure increases. Open the drain valve when it exceeds the highest water level.

6、When steam emerges from an opened safety valve, it should be closed and the pressure gauge, elbow and water level gauge should be flushed. When the steam pressure rises to 0.2-0.3 MPa, check whether the manhole cover, hand hole cover and the drain valve are leaking or not. If there is any leakage, tighten the bolts.

7、When the steam pressure in the boiler gradually rises, check whether there are special noises in the hot water boiler. If there is, immediately shut down for inspection. Continue it after solving the problems.
